This website was built to document, commemorate and share the racing provenance of a true David versus Goliath story. The Transcendental Racing IMSA GTU 240Z (VIN # HLS30-01543) has been raced consistently for the past fifty years. Against all odds, it powered its way to the 1976 IMSA GTU Championship. Privateer driver, Brad Frisselle, defeated highly-funded factory teams with this amazing piece of machinery that was built by a world class racing team.

In recent years, David Martin raced the Transcendental Racing IMSA GTU 240Z across North America. Martin raced participated in bespoke events across North America such as the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion (Weathertech Raceway at Laguna Seca), Sonoma Speed Festival (Sonoma Raceway), the Mitty (Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta), and the Sommet des Légendes (Le Circuit Mont Tremblant).

In 2021, David Martin unfortunately passed away due to illness. David was always a kind and generous soul, who's passion for racing history was undeniable. His spirit will live on in the Transcendental Z car.

Prior to his passing, David Martin had his expressed the desire to have the Transcendental Z car go to a passionate custodian that would not only enjoy driving the car, but appreciate its rich history. The Z car was sold to avid Datsun collector Randy Jaffe in 2021. Jaffe is the owner of an eclectic collection Datsuns, which most notably includes the ex John Morton #46 BRE 240Z and ex Jim Fitzgerald 280ZX and 510. The Transcendental Z car now lives in Alpharetta Georgia and run out of the very capable Z Car Garage in San Jose, CA. Readers can continue to follow the car here and at Z Car Blog!
